In a rather unnanounced way Blizzard joins the ranks of many other MMORPG's today – the realm of the cash shop. What exactly are they offering? For now, a couple of pets, namely a panda and a lich. The price tag? 10 bucks a pet.
If you think about it, Blizzard has been using a cash shop model for quite a few things already, from name changes to server transfers, so the pet store is really no surprise. For those purchasing the panda before December 31st, half of the proceeds will be going to the Make a Wish Foundation, a nice touch. Feel like giving something nice to your GM or that special player who is always there to run SM or RFC for you? The new pets are also easily gifted to that special someone in your World of Warcraft life.
So what else is on the horizon in the Blizzard cash shop? We likely won't be seeing things common to other games such as enchantment stones or xp boosts, but it's pretty likely that we'll see mounts, pets, and other various goodies become available as time goes on. So get ready to raid in style with your signature pets as WoW gets into the swing of the cash shop!
