The Jonas Brothers visit "The Late Show with David Letterman"
on June 11, 2009 in New York City.

The Jonas Brothers were recently asked to guest-edit an issue of Time Out New York, focusing on what they liked the most about the NYC music scene.  Hailing from Wyckoff, New Jersey, the JoBros presumably have a familiarity with New York City that qualified them for the job.

Or maybe not. Eldest brother Kevin said, "I think the important thing, especially in New York, is you always wanna know who's playing, what's happening in your area. And the exciting, random events too, like the air-guitar tournaments ... from--what's the up-and-rising neighborhood in Brooklyn? Umm, Williamsburg? From Williamsburg to downtown."

Hmm.

The youngest member of the singing trio has, however, experienced what few have: he saw the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden four years ago.

Nick may be a little more qualified, after all: "I enjoy writing reviews. I do it, like, for fun. There was a show called 'Kid Nation' where they sent 50 kids out into the wilderness to try and survive. It got shut down for legal reasons -- I don't know how it was ever on TV -- but I was so amused by it. There was this kid who just drank a whole thing of, like, Clorox ... So I would write up these reviews and hope to go to college one day to study English literature."

The good thing is none of the brothers are close-minded about music. "If it's good, it's good. Rock, pop, hip-hop, whatever it is," Nick said. Kevin hailed the undeniable "power that is Mutt Lange". And the brothers name an eclectic list of bands as their current favorites.

Four albums in, the Jonas Brothers are already looking towards future aspirations. Nineteen year old Joe hopes "to do more acting. We've done a television show and a movie, and I think it'd be cool." Sixteen year old Nick plans on continuing to pursue a path in music, while twenty-one year old Kevin wants to direct. "I like the other side of it, I like analyzing, that whole thing."

But not just yet. Joe says, "Even now, people are like, 'Oh, dude, you're at the top' -- and we're like, 'Ahhh, we just started.'"

The Jonas-edited issue of Time Out New York is on newsstands now.
