David Archuleta brings an early Christmas to the halls of MTV
Though it's only October, "American Idol" season 7's runner-up David Archuleta visited the MTV offices in New York City this week to promote his surprisingly successful Christmas album "Christmas From The Heart". While there, he met with MTV's Jim Cantiello and prepared MTV staffers for the holiday season with a round of Christmas carols.
Donning a green Christmas sweater and red scarf (which Cantiello says "took a fair amount of cajoling" and added that he "might have to leak the video of his reaction when [Cantiello] said the words 'Christmas sweaters.'"), the pair went door-to-door offering employees a selection of both songs off of Archuleta's album and other traditional Christmas songs.

After offering their harmonic rendition of "Joy to the World" to one MTV staffer, Cantiello presented their audience with a copy of Neil Diamond's Christmas album "A Cherry Cherry Christmas," to which Cantiello added: "This is awkward. Your gift is the Neil Diamond Christmas album, which people should not get instead of David's."
Ever humble and agreeable, David interjected by saying, "But Neil Diamond's cool, he's a nice guy."
Cantiello said, "He's very cool, but he's also Jewish, so you should stick to Archuleta because he knows Christmas better than Neil Diamond."
"What?" asked Archuleta "I like Neil Diamond." Turning to the staffer, he said, "So I hope you enjoy it!"
"Christmas From The Heart" features 18-year-old Archuleta singing in several different languages, including French and Spanish. "I had no idea your tongue could do all that," Cantiello said. "I didn't either!" laughed Archuleta. "I had never spoken a French in my life before [recording the song "Pat-a-Pan"]."
Cantiello gifted yet another staffer with an album titled "Swollen Members," adding quickly, "I don't know what that's about, but Merry Christmas!" while Archuleta stood by, obliviously saying, "You're welcome!"
David Archuleta will complete several postponed dates from his summer tour with Demi Lovato on the East Coast before beginning his Christmas tour in Salt Lake City on November 24. He will hit Montclair, NJ on December 13, Foxwoods in Connecticut on December 17, and will conclude his tour in Long Island on December 20.
