Those of you who watched "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" know her as Tara, Willow's mild-mannered but good-hearted girlfriend who (spoiler alert) meets an untimely end at the conclusion of Season Six. But actress Amber Benson is much more than just her role on “Buffy.” The 32-year-old actress is also an author, and next Friday the 19th at 7 p.m., she’ll be doing a book signing at Pandemonium Books and Games in Cambridge.
Benson’s most recent book, titled Death’s Daughter, was released last February. It follows the adventures of one Calliope Reaper-Jones, a young woman whose father is, literally, Death. Calliope has no desire to become part of the family business; instead, she simply wants a career in fashion. But like Michael Corleone before her, Calliope soon discovers that avoiding the family business is harder than it seems. When her father is kidnapped, she must shoulder the responsibility of running the death corporation.
Benson's other books include Witchery: A Ghosts of Albion Novel and Ghosts of Albion: Accursed, which she co-wrote with award-winning author Chris Golden. The Ghosts of Albion books tell the tale of Tamara and William Swift, siblings entrusted with protecting an alternate Victorian England from the supernatural forces that threaten it. Chris Golden will also appear at the book signing, as will author Thomas E. Sniegoski.
