The latest news on Donte Stallworth:

  • ESPN reports that Stallworth has been sentenced to 30 days in prison after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter
  • Stallworth also entered a plea deal with was announced today
  • The deal requires Donte perform 1,000 hours community service and serve 10 years of probation
  • Stallworth also reached a financial with victim Mario Reyes' family

The Browns have made it clear that they are moving on without Donte Stallworth. Unfortunately, Stallworth did not make any sort of football impact on Cleveland last season anyway.

This whole situation has been tragic, but it is another instance of the judicial system working in the favor of Professional athletes with a lot of money. I have no stake in the future of Mr. Stallworth, but it continues to be clear that with a lot of money and some star power, you can avoid the pressure of the law.

Do you think if Stallworth were some Joe Blow his plea deal would have been accepted?

If Stallworth was an everyday Clevelander, he might not even be able to afford an attorney who could make such deal happen.

Sometimes the ideal of  "fair and balanced" only applies to the few.
