The second day of the 2009 NFL officially has begun.
Check back often for live updates of the Browns picks in rounds 3-7
Here's what happened yesterday:
So far the first day for the Browns has been confusing. With great players like: Clay Matthews, Rey Maualuga,LeSean McCoy, and Everette Brown still available; the Browns drafted a center, two wide-receivers, and a little known defensive end from Hawaii.
The first day has been disappointing because it 'seemed' like the Browns put themselves in spectacular position to steal some great picks. Unfortunately, I think they reached a little for the players they selected.
Specifically, Brian Robiskie who was picked over Rey Maualuga. What about sleeper RB LeSean McCoy?
I understand helping solidify the offensive line with C Alex Mack. Yet, even after that pick the Browns still picked Brian Robiskie at 36 over Maualuga?? How does that happen? A wide-out like Massaquoi was still available at pick 52.
Here is Browns first day draft recap:
1. Browns trade number 5 pick to Jets for number 17 pick and DE Kenyon Coleman, S Abe Elam, and QB Brett Ratliff
2. Browns then trade their 17 pick to Tampa Bay for 19th pick and 2009 6th round draft pick
3. Browns trade their 19th pick to Philadelphia Eagles for 21st pick and 2009 draft picks
4. Finally, the Browns select C Alex Mack (yes, not Rey Maualuga) from California with 21st pick.
5. With the 36th pick in round 2 the Browns select Ohio State WR Brian Robiskie
6. With the 50th pick in round 2 the Browns select Georgia WR Mohamed Massaquoi
7. With the 52nd pick in round 2 the Browns select Hawaii DE/LB David Veikune (Who????)
