This won’t make me popular around Boston, but it needs to be said: I am from Florida, and I am a Rays fan. If it’s any consolation to all you Sox fans, I was in agony throughout game 7 too. But after a great ALCS, we now have the least likely World Series matchup possible with Tampa Bay and Philadelphia going at it tomorrow night.
If I were a sports writer, I could talk about how Tampa Bay has owned Philly in the playoffs in every sport over the last few years, beating the city’s representatives in football and hockey before winning the only two championships in the area’s history. I could also write about the losingest team in baseball taking on last season’s worst team in baseball.
But I’m not a sports writer, so instead I’m going to talk about Yuengling.
If you’ve never had a Yuengling Lager, I can understand. It’s available all along the East Coast, except for New England. That’s a shame honestly, because there is, as far as I have found, no better beer in its price range. It’s smooth, but not watery. It’s refreshing, and they brew a number of different varieties for all tastes.
It’s my beer of choice whenever I go back home, because the only two places where they brew it are Pottsville, PA (outside Philly) and Tampa, FL. These two teams have never played each other for a title (seeing as they play in the same conference in their other sports), so it’s possible that fans of both will drown their sorrows or toast their successes with the same beer out of two different local breweries.
So, not that anyone cares, seeing as there isn’t a team from the area playing, and Yuengling doesn’t look like it has any plans to start selling in Boston anytime soon, but I am dubbing this The Yuengling Series.
Oh, and GO RAYS!
