Pats welcome back Colvin.

The Patriots needed help at the linebacker position.

Adalius Thomas hasn’t played in weeks, and probably won’t play in the regular season.

Pierre Woods left last week’s game with a jaw injury and didn’t practice yesterday.

Tedy Bruschi’s been playing through a knee injury for the last few weeks.

Say hello (again) to Rosevelt Colvin.

Colvin isn’t the player he was in his first stint with the Patriots, but he adds depth to a position where the Patriots are extremely thin. In Colvin, they get a veteran who knows the system and can theoretically (assuming he’s in shape) step in and play right away.

I'm admittedly a huge Colvin fan. The last memory I have of Rosevelt Colvin as a Patriot was his game-sealing interception against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts last season. I'd psyched to have him back.

In his prime, he was a pass rushing force. Even towards the end of his stint with the Patriots, he was the only guy in the front seven who could be counted on to consistently get pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Now, if Colvin could still generate a decent pass rush, odds are he wouldn’t have been sitting home for the first 13 weeks of the season. But the Patriots just need a guy who can make a play or two on a third down.

Maybe Colvin can be that guy.

Preparations continue for Seahawks…

Patriots fans may have had trouble moving on after the Pats loss to the Steelers last weekend, but the team has already put it behind them. They’re heavy into their preparation for the Seahawks.

Wes Welker, who left Sunday's game and didn't return after a vicious (and cheap) hit by Ryan Clark, appears to be healthy and on pace to return Sunday.

Ty Warren, however, is not. He still hasn’t practiced and will likely miss this weekend's game.

The Patriots can probably afford to be without him against the Seahawks, but the Raiders are pretty good at running the ball. It’d be nice to have the defensive line intact for that game.

Playoffs still not out of the question…

The Patriots have an easy schedule in December. They have three very winnable games against the Seahawks, Raiders, and Bills. They have one tough game against the Cardinals, but I’m pretty convinced the Cardinals are paper-tigers.

I won’t be surprised if the Patriots go 4-0 down the stretch. Which would mean either the Ravens or Jets would have to finish 2-2 for the Patriots to make the playoffs.

Not completely out of the question. When was the last time an 11 win team missed the playoffs?

If the Patriots can win their games in December, they’ll be playing in January.
