Conshohocken has a lot of Italian restaurants but most of them are sandwich and pizza shops.  When Viggiano's closed last week, the owners of Spamps moved quickly to replace it with their own brand of Italian. Spaminato's Italian Restaurant will be opening in the old Viggiano's spot the week of August 10.

I spoke to Spampinato's owner Marcie Spampinato and got the scoop. The new restaurant will serve reasonably priced Italian food in a family friendly environment and a focus on basic Italian meals. Unlike Viggiano's, Spampinato's will have a full bar and wine list.

When asked about opening a new restaurant while the economy is down, Spampinato commented that they can be successful providing a reasonably priced option for familes that are keeping close to home during the recession. She also feels that the outdoor seating will be an attraction. Spampinato has a proven track record - their previous venture, Spamps, is celebrating it's 3rd anniversary next door to the new restaurant.
