LPGA professional and golfing great, Annika Sörenstam today announced on her official blog that she and her husband, Mike McGee are new parents to daughter, Ava Madelyn. According to Sörenstam’s post, Ava was born early this morning at 3:30 a.m. and weighed in at 6 lbs., 10 oz.

She states,
“We are all doing well and we truly appreciate the support we have received.  We are VERY excited about our new addition and will keep everyone posted in the coming weeks.”
With over 72 LPGA tournament wins, Sörenstam is one of the most recognized names in golf. She has been awarded the heralded, “Player of the Year” award eight times and has long been viewed as the Tiger Woods equivalent to women’s golf. She was inducted into the Golf World Hall of Fame in 2003 and retired from the game at the end of 2008.
