Every mom needs a good bag. Whether it is a diaper bag, a shopping bag or just a bag for carrying around all the stuff required for toting around a tot, bags are a mom must-have. Reusable bags are in, there’s no doubt about that. Practically every merchant you visit now has its own branded reusable bag for easy and eco-friendly shopping. As practical and affordable these are, how about mixing in a cute patterned bag or two for the perfect mix of fashion and function?

Here are a couple of my favorites:

BHappy Bags
These beautifully-patterned bags boast a large compartment for groceries or whatever else you need to carry. They’re durable and feature handles with heavy poly-webbing.
$24

EcoTotables Expandable Grocery Bag
This is another great grocery bag. It is spacious and has elastic sides that expand. It has convenient arm straps for easy carrying and Velcro straps secures contents for no hassle transport to and from the car. It also has a hard bottom stand which is handy when it comes to reusable bags.
$15

Reisenthel Mini Max Shopper
The best part about this bag is that it is collapsible. Mini Maxi Long Handle bag neatly folds into its own zippered container, with a bit of room to spare for keys or other small items. Container has a clip to attach to key ring, belt loop or other "hookable" surface. It is extremely well made and designed to last.
$8.99

Don’t forget to get reusables for your kids!

BUILT NY Munchlers Lunch Bag
What kid wouldn’t want to tote around their lunch in this cute reusable lunch sack? BUILT® collaborated with the award-winning children’s book illustrator, Stephen Savage, to take on the project of creating zoo animals for the design of the lunchboxes.
$9.99

Envirosax Kids Totes
These adorable reusable kids bags feature whimsical patterns and are a good size for storing anything a kid would need for his/her daily activities.
$8.50

And as a parting thought, please consider the following statistics from reusablebags.com as reasons why we should all be mindful of the impact plastic bags have on environment.

·         Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That comes out to over one million per minute. Billions end up as litter each year.
·         According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually. (Estimated cost to retailers is $4 billion)
·         According to the EPA, over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps are consumed in the U.S. each year.
·         Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food.
·         Plastic bags don't biodegrade, they photodegrade - breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest.
·         Plastic bags are among the 12 items of debris most often found in coastal cleanups, according to the nonprofit Center for Marine Conservation.
These startling figures provide even more reason why we should all be incorporating any and all kinds of reusable bags into our lives.
