The salmonella scare that is plaguing health officials around the country is persisting and there are still no definitive answers. What they do know is that the salmonella outbreak can be attributed to tainted peanut butter paste, likely originating from Peanut Corp. of America, whose processing plant is in Blakely, Ga.  As a result of this salmonella epidemic in which more than 500 people have gotten sick and a handful of people have died, manufacturers across the country are pulling any and all peanut butter products off the shelves. Even dog food biscuits that contain peanut butter paste are being discarded.

In addition to the recent Kellogg Co. recall of its Keebler, Austin and Famous Amos snacks, many more products from a variety of manufacturers are being pulled off the shelves. Among the 100+ items that have recently been recalled, following are the most recent products to be added to the list:
·         PetSmart Grreat Choice-brand dog biscuits, click HERE for specific UPC codes

The FDA still stresses that major brands of peanut butter jars are not included in those products under investigation and are still considered safe for consumption. But if you have any doubt about any product, please contact the manufacturer directly or better yet, discard the product altogether.
For a full listing of recently recalled products, please visit the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Web site. You can also access this FDA Web site to search for possible contaminated products by brand name, UPC code or product description.
