6 days, 7 hours, 35 minutes & 11…10…9…8…seconds until Christmas.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. But in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, balancing work obligations, and for many, working on Christmas Eve, it is really hard to get that same level of excitement we had as kids. And remember that excitement? Counting down the days until Santa Claus came, hoping and praying that what was on your list made it to under the tree? For those of us with kids, it’s a little bit easier to rekindle that magic from our childhoods by seeing that same eager anticipation in them. But here’s a list of other ways to get into the Christmas spirit, only 6 days left!
Listen to Christmas carols – you can never get enough “Jingle Bell Rock.” If you don’t have any holiday CDs or simply want the music streaming through the confines of your cubicle, try one of these online music sites.
Watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” – it’ll warm your heart every time
As a Christmas tradition, it will air on Christmas Eve on NBC at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Start wrapping your presents early – for great gift wrapping tips and ideas, visit DIY or Martha Stewart.
Admire Christmas lights – turn yours on earlier in the day, leave them on later in the evening and drive around neighborhoods where Christmas lights are in abundance. No festive lights in your area? Check out this crazy Christmas light bonanza from YouTube:
Use an advent calendar – better yet, refer to fellow Examiner Angele Sionna’s daily advent updates online HERE.
Christmas COOKIES! – Don’t these pictures alone get you into the holiday spirit? It’s just as much about the cookies at Christmas. For amazing recipes and showstopping cookies, visit Better Homes & Gardens or The Food Network.
Look at amazing gingerbread houses – Click HERE for a former article of mine that highlights pure gingerbread genius.
Finally, just take a moment to breathe and reflect upon all of the wonderful things you have in your life. That's what the holidays are truly about.
