What could make a Monday less Monday-ish than frozen custard for a nickel? Tomorrow, Monday, October 19, the original East Coast Custard in Parma Heights and five other locations will be offering cones for only five cents when you buy another cone of equal or greater value, a deal that seems awfully cool (pun intended).

Yes, it’s ice cream with egg yolks in it—but just don’t think too hard about it, and you’ll love East Coast frozen custard. It’s undeniably delicious, and thicker, smoother, and richer than ice cream. A very popular Cleveland treat and a source of regional pride since 1985, East Coast’s custard chugs sluggishly down a chute before being served in bowls and cones and mixed with sweet tidbits like Oreos to make cool, creamy concretes (their equivalent of a DQ Blizzard). You can also get shakes, sundaes, and frozen yogurt if you’re that way inclined.

So grab a nickel and head to the closest location tomorrow to see if you agree with hundreds of other Clevelanders who call East Coast “a taste of the good old days.” With a full array of ever-changing flavors like cinnamon streusel and chocolate covered pretzel (check each location’s calendar under the “locations” tab here), repeat visits are recommended.
