Van Gogh vodka Thanksgiving dessert drink recipes offer happy ending

One advantage a well versed mixologist has over other holiday hosts is the wherewithal to create time and effort saving cocktails in lieu of dessert.  Using any of the over twenty super premium vodka-infusions of the Van Gogh Vodka line, results are not only simple, but guaranteed to please.  For Thanksgiving or anytime entertaining, Van Gogh offers the following suggestions:

Café Caramel Martini: Created by Rene Matos, Beverage Director, New York Marriott Marquis

2-1/2 oz Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka
1/2 oz Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka
1/4 oz House-made caramel sauce
1 oz Vanilla ice cream, softened
Garnished with a cholive


Add all ingredients into a shaker and shake vigorously to ensure the caramel is well blended. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with a cholive.

To make your own caramel sauce, first consider the audacity of taking on another project with all the other preparations Thanksgiving commands, and if you still want to do it, check out Daytona Food Examiner, Connie Rice's, Sweet Caramelized Brussels Sprouts recipe; locate and follow the section about caramel, and for god's sake, ignore the filth about Brussels sprouts, and don't eat Brussels sprouts, ever.

A cholive is an olive shaped bit of chocolate.  They can be purchased at fine beverage and confectionery outlests, unless R.Matos expects us to make those as well.

Tiramisu Martini

1-1/2 oz Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka
1 oz Butterscotch liqueur
1 oz Hazelnut liqueur
1/2 oz Bailey's


Combine in an ice filled shaker; shake and strain into a chilled martini glass.

This recipe is provided by the fine people at Van Gogh, and they still do not give themselves enough credit.  Perhaps this is their attempt to produce a drink that has a traditional Tiramisu liqueur-taste, or perhaps it is modesty that prevents them from requiring you procure two bottles of their vodka for each recipe, but based on the quality of their product, this is nonsense.  Get a bottle of Van Gogh Dutch Caramel, and mix it into anything you can.  Substitute it for the Butterscotch liqueur above, and you won't care that it doesn't taste exactly like your Nana's Triamisu from the old country, 'cause this is better.  Plus, you will get much more joy out of a bottle Van Gogh, as it far more versatile than simple liqueur.

In the face of this decadence, anyone at your feast who still wants Pumpkin Pie and Jell-O, they are welcome to it.  Take their drink away first, and enjoy it yourself.

Taste, quality, simplicity and a happy ending, who could ask for more?
