If you're looking for a fun party and an excuse to check out Akron's modern Art Museum then make sure to mark your calendar for the third annual Switch event held November 7th at the Akron Art Museum.  Not only is this event a good time and a chance to peruse the interesting galleries, it's also a fantastic opportunity  to wear something chic and sophisticated, fun and daring - since you will of course be hanging out with the "Arty" crowd anything goes, so DO IT UP!

So what to wear to this event that features a young professional crowd and music that switches decades every hour?  Go short ladies!  A fabulous cocktail frock will do the trick but make sure your LBD has a little oomph... No plain A-line numbers allowed! Instead, try something with a glimmer of metallic sequins, an over exaggerated ruffle, or try an interesting neckline - say a one-arm dolman sleeve or a structured shoulder (paired with a slim bodice)...

If a dress doesn't appeal try a fabulous romper - either short or long.  It is so hot right now to don a short romper with tights and mile high platforms!  Do it up and finish with a large cocktail ring and simple earrings... you're outfit will steal the spotlight.  Shorts a no-go?  Try the classic pants jumpsuit instead.  For extra va-va voom don't do knit or cotton (too casual) instead try platinum silver sequins or something with a ravishing ruff.  Again simplfy accessories - cocktail ring and earrings only and a pretty  jeweled sandal peeking out from beneath it all.

Hair and make-up should be over-the-top too for a fun event such as this.  Skip the natural browns and clear gloss and go dramatic!  This season, deep dark vampy lips are very de rigour.  Should you decide to go this route leave the rest of the face quite bare with the exception of mascara, a pinch of blush and bronzer and of course a brillant highlighter on the upper cheek bones!  Not diggin' a dark pout?  Try an awesome eye.  Bright purple is fabulous for night and looks great with black or silver.  Do a little eggpant by just lining the upper lid and finishing with a subtle fuschia gloss OR really brush on the plum and do a new twist on a smokey eye done in color instead of black or brown.  Lips must be toned down though so be sure to do your pout nude!
