Is there anything about Elaine Benes that makes her unlikable? Why do TV lovers just love her so much? And not only that, with Seinfeld being considered one of the best TV comedies of all times (the best one, according to the West Palm Beach Television Examiner’s standards), it is impossible for actors not to be influenced by Elaine Benes, Julia Louis Dreyfus’ acting masterpiece. Tina Fey even admitted as much when accepting her Emmy for Best Actress, the one she won actually beating Louis Dreyfus, nominated for The New Adventures of Old Christine. Elaine’s attitude, that of a woman of the nineties very much like the one lots of women of the era already wanted to be, but maybe didn’t dare to be yet, was revolutionary and so, so, so funny. She was independent, fearless, unique and, as much as her TV friends Jerry, George, and Kramer, absolutely dysfunctional and, consequently, pretty much “undatable”. But New York’s sweetheart was anything but pathetic or pitiful, and this is a compilation of 5 of the reasons why she was that cool in the first place.
