Find out more about Christopher: Christopher Arps is a co-principal of NLB Enterprises LLC, a political and communications consulting firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Arps also appears on a weekly political segment called the "Wednesday Morning Roundtable" on Oklahoma's Talk Radio 1520, KOKC. |
It's arguably the lousiest public affairs TV show in the country: Mike Turpen's Pimp my Clients, otherwise known as KFOR's Flashpoint.
Taped Thursday, KFOR once again allowed Mike Turpen, the walking billboard for journalistic deceit, to use the program to pimp his bank account and clients. This time, the deception revolved around embattled corporation commissioner Jim Roth. Turpen, who represents Roth's close friends at Chesapeake Energy and AT&T, led the grilling of challenger Dana Murphy using Roth's mudslinging talking points regarding a nearly two-decades' old divorce. Murphy has given a reasonable explanation: it was a contentious divorce and she has been charged with no wrongdoing.
But of course, Murphy's charges against Roth were blown off. When Murphy raised the issue of Roth's DUI arrest and the nauseating circumstances surrounding that crime, not one "Pimp my Clients" regular made a peep. There was no call for an explanation from Mr. Roth, and he escaped with the DUI cover-up still largely intact in the media.
On the other hand, News9's Dave Jordan has produced an exceedingly fair and balanced piece on the race that I highly recommend. Other than that, the DUI issue is being withheld from the public. Wonder why?
