Snapshot looks to challenge the Braid throne with a photo-snapping hook.

Tucked away at E3 2009 at the Indiecade area (where Independant Games made by individuals are showcased) was a little game called Snapshot.

Snapshot will remind a lot of people of the Xbox Live Arcade (and later PC) hit Braid
. Like that game this game is an artsty (although not nearly as graphically cool) side-scrolling platformer.

The hook here however is a really cool ability based around taking photos. While Briad had a very cool time hook, Snapshot, as it's name implies, has a photo one. Basically players must take photos of the environment and use them to solve puzzles. Multiple photos can be taken, and then whatever you took a photo of can be dropped directly into the world. A good example is taking a picture of a wooden box, which can then be dropped onto switches. You can even take a picture of a door and drop that into the world and go through the door. Or stack multiple objects and take a picture of the whole stack.

See Snapshot in action in this trailer from E3 2009.

The game has yet to be announced for anything other than PC, but given the success of Braid it is virtually guarenteed to hit Xbox Live Arcade. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see it come to PlayStation Network or WiiWare as well.
