If you've been keeping an eye on the news surrounding the Game of Thrones television series, then you'll be pleased to know that all the major characters have been cast (though a few official confirmations are still pending). George RR Martin has been running frequent updates as new actors are brought into the fold.

HBO is supposedly now in the process of beginning to film the pilot episode. As James Poniewozik of Time magazine has noted, there is still no guarantee this show will make it to the actual TV lineup. However, he also does recognize that:

HBO does not generally like to shoot (presumably) expensive pilots like this for nothing. I'm basing this on no inside information, mind you, but just considering HBO's history, I would guess that the pilot would have to pretty badly screw the direwolf, as it were, not to get a shot at the air.

Here is a list of some of the more recent characters and who, reportedly, will be playing them:

Bran Stark - Isaac Hempstead-Wright

Benjen Stark - Joseph Mawle

Magister Ilryio Mopatis - Ian McNeice

Khal Drogo -Jason Momoa

and

Ser Rodrik Cassel - Ron Donachie
