Lobster catch

Sure lobster is delicious, but somehow you’ll savor its flavor more when you catch it yourself.  For a memorable family outing reserve a spot on a working lobster boat.  This unique experience offers something the whole family can enjoy and is perfect for the entourage of visitors that commonly arrive over the summer.

Lucky Catch Cruises at 170 Commercial Street in Portland, Maine offers five 1 ½ hour trips daily in July and August. Venturing off to Portland Headlight, Seal Watch and Lighthead Passage, the Lucky Catch boards 14-20 persons per trip.

Choose to be as interactive on this trip as you’d like. Prepare bait and traps, rubber band the claws of a fresh catch or just settle in as you roll over waves of salty sea spray in Casco Bay.  Haul traps amid packs of sunbathing seals with historic lighthouses and forts insight.

Pre-scheduled tours are relatively affordable.  Children ages 2 through 12 ride for $15.00 while those 13-18 years old cost $20.00.  Seniors climb aboard for $22.00 and adults pay $25.00.  Lucky Catch also offers private charters at $300.00 for a 1 ½ hour tour.  If you’d like to take home some of the freshest lobster available you will have to pay extra, but at economical boat prices of about $4.50 per pound.  Reservations are not required but recommended. Call 207-761-0941 to make arrangements.
