The most anticipated game of the decade, and possibly of all-time, hits stores at midnight in the form of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
With so much hype surrounding the game due to the success and attention Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare brought in, I have to give myself a reality check for a second and ask myself one simple question, taking que from the last line of the film, “Fanboys:” what if it sucks?
That sounds rough and most likely it will not be the case, but what exactly is keeping it from falling in the same category as games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Saints Row 2, Farcry 2 and many others?
Now, I agree that most people wouldn’t say that those games are bad, but the word “suck” in this scenario is relative in meaning, scaled by the tremendous amount of hype they received.
I'm a huge fan of the franchise, in fact, the original Call of Duty title on the PC is what got me back into gaming so many years ago, but all companies have their hits and misses, even Activision/Infinity Ward.
I hope it won’t, I hope it will be the greatest game of all-time, because I plan on pulling an all-nighter after I get this game at midnight, but I think I should at least brace myself—and you should too.
