Formerly known as Patima’s Organic Coffee, Coffee Luver’s café is the perfect neighborhood blend of cozy coffee bar and busy sandwich shop. Free wi-fi means you’ll almost always find a few entrepreneurs and students tapping away at their laptops, but you’ll also encounter regulars stopping by for their caffeine fix. And Coffee Luvers is open all day, so breakfast, lunch, snacks, and even a light dinner are on the menu, all at very reasonable prices.

On prized sunny days in the Richmond, patrons (especially smokers) fill the sidewalk tables outside the café; inside there are several more tables, flanked by a long, mirrored wall and a decorative fireplace. The vibe is cool, yet homey; the café is family owned and tends to attract parents and children. But the coffee bar is the main attraction. Coffee Luver’s serves every possible espresso drink, hot and cold, including the standard cappuccinos and mochas, frappes, black and green tea chai, and loose-leaf teas by the pot. The café also also serves soy drinks such as soy tea chais and vanilla soy lattes. Coffee Luvers brews strong, flavorful black and green iced tea as well. Several blends of loose-leaf teas and varieties of organic coffee beans are available for purchase to brew at home.

Coffee Luvers serves a full array of breakfast pastries, sandwiches, and snacks. Breakfast specials include bagel, croissant, or English muffin egg sandwiches, and the curry chicken salad is a lunchtime favorite, but what keeps many patrons coming back is the Vietnamese sandwich, or Bánh mi. Three kinds of flavorful ham are tucked into a light baguette, topped with mayonnaise, pâté, pickled sweet and sour carrots and other veggies. Regulars claim the ham combo sandwich at Coffee Luvers is better than those at nearby Vietnamese restaurants.

Another nice touch: when you order a cold drink to go from Coffee Luvers, it comes in a cup made completely from vegetables, making it not only recyclable, but fully compostable, too.

Coffee Luvers is at 2314 Clement Street, between 24th and 25th Avenues.  Open seven days a week; Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 7:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
