Eckhart Tolle has made a big splash in the media recently, with his books and appearance on Oprah, talking about the “Power of Now”.

But how exactly does one attain inner peace? Read his books or listen to him carefully, and you’ll find that he doesn’t explain. It just sort of happened to him one day while he was studying at the University of London.

On the other hand, a remarkable American who renamed herself Peace Pilgrim in the early 1950s laid out the steps towards inner peace very clearly in a small pamphlet that is not copyrighted or advertised anywhere, yet has been printed over 1.5 million times, translated into 20 languages and published in several countries.

The knowledge is free. Although Peace Pilgrim was killed by an automobile in the early 1980s, her legacy lives on through a voluntarily-supported Connecticut foundation.
