Using a pendulum as a divination technique.
Divination does not require extraordinary devices. Tarot cards, runes, coins to use for I-Ching and crystal balls are typical of paraphernalia used to foretell the future but they are not the only items people can use. One of the most useful divining devices does not cost very much because it only requires a couple of items you can find around the house. With a string tied to a little item, you can construct a pendulum: one of the oldest foretelling devices in history.
The pendulum goes back at least several centuries with claims of origins that this technique was used in ancient Egypt, ancient Rome and by Nostradamus. There are variations of pendulum that use jars of water and the answers would be determined by the number of times the crystal pendulum rang when it hit the glass. Also, pendulums can be used in dowsing, which is the act of finding water or metal with an instrument; usually a pendulum used for dowsing is attached to the end of a wand.
The pendulum is often used to answer any two part question such as “yes” or “no,” however one of the most popular uses of a pendulum was to predict the sex of the baby in a pregnant woman. The pendulum would be held over the womb and if the pendulum swung back and forth, traditionally, the woman was thought to be carrying a boy. If it swung in a circle, the woman was carrying a girl.
How to use the divining pendulum:
Get a string and some kind of a weight to fasten to the end of the string. The string can be made of any material. The weight can be a ring, the pendant of a necklace or any small item that that dangle and swing that the end of the string.
Hold the string at one end. Ask for a sign that means “yes” and watch the pendulum swing back and forth, clockwise or counterclockwise. Then ask for a sign that means “no” and watch the pendulum swing a different way than the sign for “yes.” This will establish the yes/no answers based on the pendulum.
Sometimes, you can hold the pendulum above a cross that is placed on the floor. If you hold the pendulum in the center of the cross, it is easier to see which way the pendulum is moving.
Why it works:
Although there are a few paranormal attributions to this method, the practical ones are:
~Someone using this method is forced to limit and focus questions to a “yes” or “no”
~The method prevents overthinking by delegating the energy to a neutral object and having it move to whatever one is sensing or feeling, rather than thinking.
In other words, if you are actively thinking that there's nothing wrong with your car and the pendulum contradicts you, it's because you are feeling that there's something wrong with the car but justifying in your head that there isn't. The energy of your body will move the pendulum accordingly.
