Michael Jackson was a consummate performer and artist. In addition to his talents as a musician, dancer and entertainer, he also wrote three books – an autobiography, a children’s book, and a collection of essays and art. All three books are now out of print, but copies can be found on eBay, Alilibris.com, Amazon, and at the fansite All Michael Jackson.

1988 brought Michael’s children’s book, Moonwalker – The Storybook. This was produced in connection with the short film, Smooth Criminal. The tale takes Jackson and two young friends into battle to save the world from the evil Mr. Big. The book includes an Elizabeth Taylor penned introduction.

Moonwalk, Jackson’s first autobiography, was published in 1988 by Doubleday. It covers Jackson’s childhood, the Jackson Five, and his solo career through the release of the album Bad. The book discusses his friendships with Hollywood heavyweights and his penchant for plastic surgery. The book has a forward by the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis that compares him to showmen like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Moonwalk contains photos and Jackson’s own artwork. The book is now out of print, but pre-owned copies can easily found on eBay, alibris.com and Amazon.

In 1992, Michael Jackson wrote Dancing the Dream, a collection of essays, photos, artwork and poems. The essays include pieces on the children of the world and the plight of the elephant. The book reflects Jackson’s innocence and creativity. The book is now out of print, a handful are available at eBay for sums ranging from 99 cents to 99 dollars. It can also be found on alibris.com and other sites on line.
