Things that cost $250

Its quite steep when you think about what else you could spend that money on. But alas, NYC has upped the ante for leaving your pooches poops on the side of the street, and with good reason. Our water ways are fragile as it is, and dog poop is a large contributor to non-point source pollution. With each rain fall, the bacteria in the poop gets washed into the swear system and eventually into the ocean.
If the poop is left on the soil, it absorbs into the ground contaminating the area where it was left. Dog poop is not fertilizer. Dont let lazy people tell you otherwise.
I recently was walking my dogs under the NJ Turnpike in Jersey City and stepped in poop with both feet at the exact same time. It was one of those frustratingly hilarious moments that can only be responded to with laughter. And laugh I did, the whole way home. I laughed as I dragged my fancy boots across the grass trying to wipe off the little "surprise" someone's dog left for me. And with each smearing step I wondered when Jersey City was going to up the poop scoop fine? If a steeper fine is all it would take to keep my boots clean and the grass green (a little free style for you), then I am all about it.
