Physcian's Formula Mascara

It's a positive sign to see mainstream make-up companies starting to produce organic beauty products.  We put way too many chemicals and byproducts on our skin every day.

Not surprising, Physician's Formula is one of the first mass-marketed companies to address comsumers who want more natural and less chemical on our faces and bodies.

I tried two of their products from their Organic line recently.

Organic wear mascara:

Pros:

  • 100% Natural Origin formula contains the purest ingredients
  • 100% Recyclable Eco-Brush defines each lash with ultra-soft plastic bristles.
  • 100% Free of Harsh Chemicals, Synthetic Preservatives, Parabens, Clumping, Smudging, Flaking, Fibers & Dyes.
  • Price: Under $10.00 (I paid about $8.00)

Cons:

While P.F. claims that the mascara boosts lashes 5X, I could hardly tell there was any mascara on my eyes.  I was disappointed in the coverage and eventually had to dig my old mascara out and go over the Organic wear.  I have pretty long lashes and it's easy to tell when I get good coverage or not.  Hopefully the company will listen to suggestions about this and reformulate. There will be some formula adjustments, I'm sure, as consumer feedback is reviewed.  Still, it's not bad for everyday wear if you want to get just a little highlight on your lashes.

Superfruit Lip Glass

Pros

  • 100% Natural, ultra-moisturizing formula
  • Superfruit Blend includes nutrient-rich Organic Superfruit extracts from Goji Berry, Noni, Açai and Pomegranate to hydrate, soften and tone lips.
  • 31.5% Organic, infused with vitamins and anti-oxidants
  • Good cover and shine, lasts quite awhile
  • Less than $8.00 (I bought a bonus pack that contained 2 for about $7.00)

Cons

  • There really weren't any "cons"- the taste was a little different than other glosses I've used and initially it was a bit odd but after a moment, the taste was a refreshing change from the superfake, supersweet versions I've used from other companies (from L'Oreal to Lancome).

Even though the mascara wasn't the best, I plan to try other products from the P.F. Organics line. It's good to see organic beauty products being sold at a reasonable price in mass merchandise stores like Wal*Mart and Meijer.   I hope the trend continues.
