As heard each week on JAMN 94.5 FM’s The Launchpad’s “Hood Report” every Sunday night, Gwop Gang has making a name for themselves as being lyrically paramount and consistent with their opinions, findings and reporting of news that may or may not have been reported in commercial news.

So with their names buzzing with that project, the question was asked are Gwop Gang (BR, Badnewz and Juste) just novelty? Are they only good for reporting? Where are the actual records? Can they make a structured song worth listening to?

Well the question was answered on June 2nd with the release of their debut release “Gwop Gang Radio”, which includes some memorable and offensive (if you wear that shoe size that is being referenced) skits including “Radio Takeover”,”#1 Fan” and “#1 Hater” Jamn’s own DJ On&On lends some funny commentary and excitement to the project as only he can. Each member has their respective solos which solidifies their contribution to the group as a collective. The standout songs for me are “Lay Down” in which BR starts off the song with “hope money can buy you luck/ Talent you ain’t supplied enough/ Nation full of suppliers with no quality with no quality to buy amongst” then Newz follows with “lyrics I brag em’/ Using this mic like a magnum/ I’m not a P.I/ T.I/ C.I/ E.I like Nelly” Other standouts include the artists solo records, “Pay da Bills” feat Slaine and Tre LB, “Dirty” feat The Hitmakerz, “Gwop Gang” and “City Life” feat Tre LB. I wondered if by the cover and the skits were real life hostile takeover style towards getting their presence on the radio and I concluded that it could be metaphorically. What I mean is if you are consistent, humble, respectful and ultimately deliver a majority of quality product, your success is inevitable. “Gwop Gang Radio” is available for FREE download here
