There is a movement being created and despite your personal feelings about whomever it is all good. I agree that ones selfish intentions can do more harm than good at times; I do not believe this is the case. For all those who pioneered the musical force back in the party political 80s to the hard and gritty 90s to the snap, 808s, chants, finding our voice 2000s, everyone has put a piece in the puzzle. The most consistent thing about this thing we call Boston Hip Hop (and I am not excluding Lawrence, Lowell, Cambridge, Worcester) is the determination to be heard. The music is undeniable. The collaborations are memorable and noteworthy. The production is competitive. The organization is better. The media outlets are forming and coming together. And last but not without importance, the fans and onlookers are becoming more in tuned with more than their college buddy or upstairs neighbor.

Fu#* a show with Kanye! That should not be your sole lifeline to your potential fans. Nor should being played on Jamn 94.5 or Kiss 108 or WBCN 104.1 (depending on your genre). Rock Bands have it a little easier in regards to the clubs, promotional outlets, opportunities for touring even, but Hip Hop was started with nothing and is the best making something from nothing. Utilize any and every means around you and get it going. Stop waiting for handouts. Stop depending on Masspike Miles to offer Rick Ross as a feature on your new mixtape or Slaine to get Everlast to rock a stage with you or Termanology to get Premier to throw you a beat for the low. Get up, get yours and remember where you come from. That’s the only way things will grow. I cannot stress how much it is important to get out and make your own way. Whether you have a fashion line, radio show, management company, Took photography courses or ever had an interest in directing. All services are welcomed and encouraged to join this force that will be a dominate force in music very soon. There is no doubt in my mind and my heart. Haters will hate. Skeptics will continue. But what will ultimately prevail is showing and proving we are meant to be!
