Once you have "clicked" online and decided to meet face-to-face there are many things to consider before planning your First Internet Date.

It is easy to get carried away with the warm fuzzy feelings that anticipation, fantasy, and idealization can conjure up about that perfect new match that we lose sight of the fact that we are talking about meeting a complete stranger.  When considering a first date, think about your safety and your time.  Plan to meet each other at an agreed upon location just in case things do not go well there is an exit plan that does not require texting 911 to a friend to rescue you!  Meet in a public place and for an initial encounter, plan something in the day light hours, which remember last longer in the summer so take advantage!

Plan something that is fun and exciting that does not require alcohol or cost too much money.  And for goodness sake, if I hear of another first date over coffee, I will scream!  I mean come on people!  We live in L.A.!  Where else do we have such wonderful choices to explore?

Here are some great places in L.A. for your First Offline Date:

Beaches: Beaches provide walking paths, bicycle and Rollerblade rentals, snacks, and great people watching!  You can pick and choose based on geographical location of your new-found sweetie.  Plus if you time it just right and the chemistry is there, sunsets are a great chance for that first kiss!  Also as a bonus there are some great concerts on the pier going on in the summer!

Museums: The Getty is free after 5:00 pm!!!  Take your date to see some culture and walk around the beautiful gardens!  Compare aesthetic taste and  take in the beautiful views, that is if the smog clears! :)  If the date is going well, head over to one of the cafes and grab something to eat.  In the summer there are concerts on the lawn, what a romantic way to spend an evening!

Dance lessons: So you think YOU can Dance?  How about some salsa lessons ?  Enjoy the live music and learn some moves from the best at intermission!  Can't beat the price, only $5.00 and a great excuse to get close!

Concerts in the Park:  In the summer there are great opportunities to find live music outdoors.  Most start in the late afternoon and go until the parks close.  Take your date, bring a blanket, snacks, and some extra sweaters in the car and some conversation and you are good to go!

Hollywood Bowl: Nothing is more HOLLYWOOD than summer nights at the Hollywood Bowl.  Tickets vary depending on the performance.  So grab a picnic basket, fill it up and meet your match at the Park and Ride!  Let the bus do the driving and get cozy on the ride up.  Enjoy the atmosphere, music, and, depending on the night, you can catch some Fireworks or you can create your own! ;)

Feel free to comment about your great First Date ideas around town!

Remember to be safe and have fun!!!
