Joey Crabb

Now this is the Wolves we have all been waiting on! Hands down, they were absolutely amazing last night!

Some could say Peoria gave the Wolves the win on a silver platter. After all, they did manage to give them 8 power plays, including three 5-on-3 opportunities! Though the Wolves only took advantage of 3 of the 8 man advantages, they more than made up for those few unused opportunities.

After the last game on Saturday I noticed we had not seen one hat trick from the Wolves. A hat trick, where a player scores 3 goals in one game, makes for one very exciting part of hockey that was missing in my life. But now, thanks to Joey Crabb, that void has been filled! His 3 great goals last night lead the team to their: 2nd straight win, 4th straight home win, and 8th straight game with power play goals.

There was only one point in the game where I screamed at my TV (yes I even yell at them from home....I'm a true fan what can I say) wondering what the hell they were doing.

The Wolves unfortunately, somehow, let Peoria score when the Wolves had a 5 on 3 man advantage. How does that happen? That was a really hard sentence to type and an even harder one to say out loud.

Anyhow, with the always amazing Ondrej Pavelec back between the pipes, that wound up being Peoria's one and only goal. Ironically enough they couldn't manage to score with even strengths, or with the man advantage for that matter, but they could score when the Wolves had a 2 man advantage...what does a coach say to his team in a situation like that? "Great game guys but, uh, what was that?" I would love to hear Coach Granato's response to that one.

I'm sure they laughed it off seeing as they are winning and back within an arm's reach of first place. The Wolves are coming together and can defend Calder, who belongs here in Chicago, all the way to the end as defending team's should.

Their next game will be this Friday night in Grand Rapids against their old rivals, the Griffins. You can watch the game on Comcast starting at 6 P.M.

Last night's 3 stars of the game:

(3) Ondrej Pavelec

(2) Hamilton (3 assists)

(1) Joey Crabb (3 goals)
