There is nothing like crunch time in any sport to make a team shape up and give their all. With just about two months left in the Wolves regular season, they really are showing up and giving it more than we have seen them give the entire first half of the season.
Spencer Machacek, who is on a 4 game goal and 7 game point streak, was the first to put up a point for the Wolves on a powerplay in the first against the Iowa Chops. Next was Wilson, who also scored on a powerplay, which gave the Wolves a 2-0 lead in the second.
But, it was the third period where the Wolves let their guard down and let Iowa score 2 unanswered goals to bring the game to a 2-2 deadlock, sending them into the third straight five minute overtime between the two teams.
Matt Anderson wound up being the hero in the 3-2 overtime win at Allstate Arena against the Iowa Chops. His overtime goal, which puts him on a 2 game goal streak, gave the Wolves the win they needed to hold on to their third place spot.
Here are the 3 stars of the game:
3) Machacek with one goal
2) Pavelec who stopped all but 2 shots that came at him
1) Anderson with the game winning goal
The Wolves next game is this Friday night against the Milwaukee Admirals here at home in the Allstate Arena. Game time is 7:30 P.M. and doors open at 6:30 P.M.
But, the night's pregame schedule will be a little different than usual.
