7 straight games with power play goals

7th goals of the season scored by Crabb and Holzapfel

1st goal of his AHL career in regulation scored by Kulda, his only other career goal was scored during the cup push last year with the Wolves

1st shutout of the season for Krahn;his 12th career AHL shutout

3 assists, one for each goal of the game, were made by Lewis

The Wolves pulled together to defeat the Houston Aeros at home in Allstate Arena in front of a great crowd. The final score, 3-0, marks their first shutout win since October of last year, the beginning of the 08-09 season.

The best news of the night though comes from the team as a whole. That missing spark and intensity was finally there in full force, making for one very entertaining game. Fights were amazing (yes, I am a female hockey fan who loves the fights) and the team play was right on point.

Krahn was great between the posts and had great defense to back him up. All the lines were taking those shots that they have been missing, most coming up as a shot on net, 3 going in for goals.

One thing that struck me as, for lack of a better word, stupid was the fact that the Aeros coach pulled their goalie with 5 minutes left in the third period. Seriously, who does that?? With 5 minutes left you might as well hand the team a free win card and call it a day. Not saying the Wolves win was not earned, the Aeroes fought those 5 minutes out, but I just don't see how a coach can in his right mind being down 2 to nothing in the third period make a call like that?

That being said, the Wolves fought hard, brought the fighting entertainment only Boris Valabik could have topped, and gave Wolves fans a great game.

The team will play at home this Wednesday, February 4th, at 7 P.M. against the Peoria Rivermen. As always, I encourage all who can attend to be there, since Wolves hockey is the best there is!
