Take a River Run in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, located on Highway 99 in California’s Central San Joaquin Valley, sits on what was once a Tule reed congested bug-ridden malarial swamp. Today, it is California’s eleventh largest, and most conservative, city. This growing metropolis, and one of the sunniest cities in the continental United States, is often bypassed by people heading for a camping adventure in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, for a whitewater rafting expedition on the Kern River, hiking the trails in the Sequoia National Forest or for those in search of the Sodom and Gomorrah known as Los Angeles. Nevertheless, necessity sometimes requires a place to rest your head for the night, and there are few better loca
tions in Bakersfield than the River Run RV Park.
Located just off the
99 Freeway, adjacent to the Kern River, this campground has 123 sites, on concrete pads, including 31 pull throughs and back-ins with full hook-ups (50 Amp), cable and wifi. With rates as low as $32 per night this campground is the perfect place to break your journey or to stage an RV Rally. There are two comfort stations onsite including restrooms, showers and a laundry. The club house has a store, a recreation room, banquet room, exercise room, computer work stations, kitchen and outdoor BBQ. There is also a small outdoor pool and spa. Propane is available at the campground. This is a very well maintained and beautifully manicured RV Park with excellent facilities. Sadly, due to the severe California drought, the Kern River alongside the campground remains dry, and there is little prospect of any recovery in the near future.
Rates: $32-$39 per night | Pets: $2 Each (Maximum 2) | Extra Vehicle: $3 |
