Dancing with the Stars Kelly Osbourne tried losing weight for years by not eating and using medications, but when rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars began, she realized quickly that old dieting habits were not going to work. Faced with needing lots of energy for the moves, she ended up shaky with tingly hands and heart palpitations. After dance coach Louis van Amstel discovered she never ate breakfast, he pushed her to eat before starting their practice.

Osbourne decided she would. After a little over one month, Osbourne has dropped two sizes to a size 4. She began to realize that “not eating” is not the way to drop the pounds. So, she dropped the white, refined flour items, cut out the diet drinks but most important, she has a protein smoothie and fruit for breakfast to get her moving. She threw exercise into her every day routine, along with Dancing with the Stars practice and it all started to happen.

Most dieters cut out breakfast, worried that it will just whet the appetite for more food. Breakfast will actually boost the energy levels, strengthen the immune system and stabilize blood sugar. Stabilizing blood sugar is crucial for dieters since reports show blood sugar spikes could be a cause for obesity. Breakfast , if practiced daily will help to shed the pounds.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be a five course meal. Here are ideas to get the body going in the morning and starting the day right:

  • Drinking a protein smoothie is perfect to grab energy for a morning start.
  • Boil an egg with a small piece of fruit.
  • A cup of instant oatmeal with berries and fruit works well.
  • Yogurt with fruit is easy to get down.
  • Try a breakfast bar with a cup of herbal tea.

Starting the day with something in the stomach allows a clear mind, more strength and shows the way for a positive start of the day.

Osbourne now starts her day with a smile on her face. It is not necessarily about the weight she is losing, but because she feels much better about Kelly.
