Experience tells me that much of today's media coverage on DV is slanted, biased, or just plain wrong. This will be an occasional feature here at the Domestic Violence Examiner.
I'll launch the series with this editorial from PennLive. It starts out in a promising vein with the headline: Domestic violence: Abusive relationships aren't stereotypical then goes on to quote the gospel, chapter and verse. What's worse, it goes on to say:
As a billboard along Interstate 83 by the South Bridge says: "Every 5 days a Pennsylvania woman will die as a result of domestic violence."
Since when did billboards become authorities on anything? Pardon me, but I thought they were advertising tools.
Oh, wait: the editorial does use the word, "man," once.
It also lists "places where victims of abuse can seek help." Sure, anyone can seek, but at those resources, only a very few will find.
