Formed out of the ashes of two beloved bands in the underground music scene, The Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves, Jaguar Love patched together a new brand of indie rock that has never quite been done before. Fusing the screamy, post-hardcore rock of the Blood Brothers with the dancey, indie-pop of Pretty Girls Make Graves lead to a a dream collaboration for many indie rockers looking for a little something more.
However, by the end of 2008, the band had decided to part ways with drummer Jay Clark, former-Pretty Girls Make Graves, leaving the dynamic that put Jaguar Love on the map slightly off kilter. Vocalist Johnny Whitney and guitarist Cody Votolato, brother of critically acclaimed folk singer Rocky Votolato, decided to continue on as a two piece and "remix" the old Jaguar Love sound while redefining the future of the band.
The band just recently released their first official demo as the new and improved Jaguar Love, along with a video that can be seen below. The track entitled, "I Started A Fire" is everything one could want from a Jaguar Love tune and more. Filled with twinkling sound effects, hard hitting beats, 80s reminiscent breakdowns and Whitney's signature vocals, the song could easily be the best thing Jaguar Love have done yet, and it's only a demo.
Jaguar Love is currently on the Nylon Summer Music Tour 2009 which recently made a stop at Buffalo's Tralf Music Hall. Also on the bill are Patrick Wolf, Living Things and the Plasticines. The tour runs through July 1 in Austin, Texas.
