One of the biggest tours of the Fall made a stop in Detroit at the Fillmore Theatre on Sunday, November 1 with co-headliners Jet and Papa Roach.
The tour also features up and coming rock band Aranda and electronic sensation Kill Hannah.
The co-headlining tour with a festival feel has been a popular one with affordable tickets and strong live acts.
Aussie Rockers Jet recently released their new album Shaka Rock and this is their first U.S. tour promoting the album. Meanwhile, Papa Roach have been touring most of the year behind their last album Metamorphosis.
On Sunday night, Aranda opened the show in Detroit with a short but solid set of bluesy guitar rock songs.
The brothers behind the band, Dameon and Gabe Aranda, both have great voices and they work well together. Their cover of Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused was a particular standout.
Kill Hannah was up next and they also had a short set but they made the most of it with singer Mat Devine moving all over the stage, changing clothes and talking about how much he loves playing in Detroit.
The band came out with their usual spectacle of laser driven guitars and they played some of their most popular tracks including fan fave Lips Like Morphine.
Jet was up next and they got the crowd fired up with hits Cold Hard Bitch and Are You Gonna Be My Girl?
The band also pulled out a number of new songs off of Shaka Rock. The band has a pretty simple stage show but through just focusing on the strength of their music, they really connect with their fans.
This was the fourth time I've seen Papa Roach live and each time I see them I am impressed by their stage presence. They become a stronger live act every time I see them and this time was no different.
Singer Jacoby Shaddix has a lot of energy and he spent the entire night running back and forth across the stage, leaning into the crowd and getting the crowd to sing, jump, clap and fist pump along with him. He also had the crowd moshing throughout the night and at one point he even had a Wall of Death going prompting the crowd to "split like a stripper's legs."
It was great to see a lot of the newer material live including I Almost Told You That I Love You, Change or Die, Lifeline and Hollywood Whore. The crowd was just as in to the newer material as they were the classics.
Set highlights were ballads Forever, Lifeline and Scars, which all featured crowd sing-a-longs and energetic closers Into the Light and Last Resort.
