Having a target on his back Kimbo is sure that he’ll be the next to fight. It’s no secret that most of the guys in the house, even his own teammates, want to fight him. Even though he hasn’t fought in the UFC, Kimbo is still a big name in the MMA world and a win over him would definitely add to anyone’s career in the MMA world. Although it won’t do much to help them in Dana’s eyes since he doesn’t think much of Kimbo. Hopefully Kimbo can quickly pickup on his ground game since everyone knows his weakness is that.

Rashad is unfortunately having to deal with the fact that Roy Nelson is a veteran in the sport and brings an attitude with him. People who have already been in the game for so long aren’t always the most open to coaching and advice from other people. His fellow coaches are already at the point of not wanting to coach Roy. Perhaps Roy should step back and realize that if he knew it all already he would be in the UFC fighting and not on The Ultimate Fighter trying to work his way into the UFC.

The second fight will see James against Wes Shivers. Hopefully this match up will work out better than Rampage’s first fight. Then again this fight couldn’t go any worse than Rampage’s first pick where Abe was completely dominated for two rounds. Yet on the other hand James losing could be a huge blow to Rashad’s team since James was his first pick.

The first round saw the two men attempt to exchange a few punches before Wes pushed James against the cage. Wes eventually managed to get a takedown sweep. Wes didn’t really try to mount any real grappling or jujitsu attack when he had James down. Eventually James was able to get back to his feet. The two men exchanged some punches and kicks, one which accidentally hit James in the crotch. James was the aggressor landing a few solid kicks to Wes’s legs. It was definitely not an impressive round for either fighter.

Round two started with Wes being a bit more aggressive. It was becoming obvious that Wes was already gassed. West did manage a sloppy takedown on James when he caught one of James’s kicks. Once again it was apparent that Wes’s ground game really wasn’t there as it took a while before he even attempted to deliver any ground and pound onto James. Wes showed some promise when he was able to get James’s back and was delivering some punches but eventually James turned into him and was able to get up.

Once back on their feet it was even more obvious just how gassed Wes was, although James didn’t seem to have much more energy. Instead of pressing the fight forward James kept backing away and not trying to take advantage of a tired Wes. The fight became a sad display of no endurance when Wes was doubling over to catch his breath, leaning on the cage and James was putting his hands on his sides. So far the first 2 heavyweight fights have shown no potential for real heavyweight contenders in the UFC. The fight ended with Wes trying to catch James’s knee which turned into James attempting to put a chokehold on Wes.

Thankfully the judges spared us from suffering through another horrible round of fighting. James managed to pull off the win which isn’t a surprise. He landed a lot of solid kicks plus being able to get back to his feet after being taken down twice as well as the chokehold. Wes only landed a few solid hits and his ground game was just horrible. It was almost as bad as Abe’s was. Hopefully some of these heavyweights actually have a ground game and the rest of the fights won’t be as bad as these first 2 were.

It will be interesting to see what fight Rashad picks now that he has control. He could ensure all of his guys fight against people that they match up well against. Luckily we don’t have to wait long as this week they are already showing who Rashad picks. For his fight selection he is putting Roy against Kimbo. Dana likes the match up since Roy is a well rounded fighter and this could truly be a test for Kimbo. Although like MMA fans know it only takes one punch to knock someone out. It’s anyone’s fight to win or lose. Tune in next Wednesday at 10:00PM on Spike TV to see if Kimbo can deliver or not.
