Last week on The Colony the show ended with a clip of Mike getting injured on the trike. He hit something and ended up being thrown off the trike. He busted open part of his head as well as getting a few cuts on his arms and legs. He ended up wrecking into John C and Diane’s work station. With limited medical supplies and other issues this was the last thing they needed to have happen. It’s further bad considering that Mike has been a pretty valuable person with his ability to build things.

Getting the truck finished has turned from being just a priority to being a must. Joey is deemed the foreman to make sure everyone stays focused and gets the work done. With supplies reaching a critical low there is no more taking their time to get things done. Not to mention there is still that worry about Andre coming back to fulfill his threat. Once again tension mounts when Mike cuts a piece of metal that Joey was going to use for something else. Joey begins to wonder if he’d be better off on his own.

After having some marauders drive around outside the compound the colonists have realized they need to go over a defense plan since they know a threat is likely to happen soon. John C will use his flamethrower to try and keep the attackers away. Along with this Amy will be on the roof throwing Molotov cocktails. The final part is to seal off all entrances into the warehouse except for the one they call the monkey cage. They plan on hanging up a net in the monkey cage that will fall and hopefully slow down any attackers. They will also place some oil covered metal plates in the cage.

John C decides to broadcast their emergency signal one more time. This time they get a response back of a new location with hundreds of survivors as well as food and water. This news restores some effort into the colonists except once again Joey is torn. He’s starting to wonder if he should stay behind to help rebuild his city.

Desperate for protein John C ends up eating some cat food as the colonists are down to just rice to eat. Hey sometimes you have to do crazy things to survive. After all people in some situations have even eaten bugs when they needed to survive. Right now Vlad is what is holding the group behind. Everyone is trying to stress to him that they need to leave now and not later. Finally they can start the truck up using the gasifier they built.

Thankfully the colonists have the truck fully loaded before marauders return. Andre is back with help. It doesn’t take long for the marauders to break through and get into the monkey cage. The colonists are able to use their flamethrower to set one of the marauders’ cars on fire. They quickly fallback and head to the truck and their escape car. The time to leave has come whether they wanted it to or not.

Before they are fully on their way to the new destination Joey stops the truck and breaks the news that he is staying in his city. Joey apparently overlooked the fact that he’s not the loner he thinks, that it took other people to help him to get to this point. In the end though everyone has to do what’s best for themselves. One thing is for sure and that is that the colonists will never see the world the same again. Life for them will be something new from now on. They truly have learned to appreciate what they have. This show may be a reminder to all of us that we should try to learn more, to appreciate what we have and to never think we can’t do something. If you want something bad enough you can do it.
