It’s no surprise that as usual Rampage and Rashad are talk trashing to each other. Although you would think Rampage would be a bit more humble considering his team has now lost 6 fights in a row and is on the verge of being completely eliminated in the first round. The next fight is Matt vs. Scott. This obviously leaves Mike vs. Marcus. The fight selection briefly allowed for a break from the Rampage/Rashad trash talking but of course it quickly picked back up.

Rashad and Rampage are definitely starting to take over the position of the 2 coaches who hated each other the most. It’s possible Shamrock and Ortiz didn’t have this much tense. Bisping and Henderson didn’t even seem to have this much tension between each other. If one thing is certain it’s the fact that the Rampage vs. Rashad match is going to be one heck of a fight.

Once again Matt is managing to cause drama. He told someone that Mike was afraid to fight him. Even his coaches keep wondering why he likes to stir up drama. Now he’s drinking other people’s juice which makes them mad. Then he is actually shocked when John says how he wants to slap him for drinking his juice and not even asking. It’s never a good thing when teammates are sparring and one decides to go almost 100% when the coaches tell you to go only 60%. Matt ended up snapping after a bit and almost went after John. You would think that when a 6 figure contract with the UFC is on the line that people would focus on that and not on petty bull crap.

Rashad lost it with the way Matt was being and snapped on him. He tried to make the point to Matt that it’s stupid to get this riled up and almost fight a teammate when you haven’t even had your first fight yet. Unfortunately Rashad’s words pretty much fell on deaf ears. Matt can’t seem to grasp that his behavior has made people question why he really is there. He’s made excuses to avoid fighting, told his own team’s strategies and now tried to get into a fight with a teammate.

The house has decided to now make a pool on when they think Matt is going to snap. It’s not a good thing when Matt’s own teammates are probably going to hope for him to lose with the way he’s been. Scott stands a good chance as Matt’s own temper could be his downfall. Sometimes a fighter being too emotional can be a bad thing.

Round one started with both men feeling each other out a bit. Matt was able to land a pretty solid punch that knocked Scott to his butt. Matt let him back up to keep the fight standing. Once again the two kind of felt each other out with Matt finally landing a few blows and once again knocking Scott down. This time he almost attempted the mount but at the last second decided to let Scott up again. Scott seemed to rely mostly on his kicks. Matt was able to catch his leg the one time and deliver a solid punch. Matt then once again let Scott get back up. Scott eventually dropped to his knees in an attempt to go for one of Matt’s legs. Matt was able to shake him off and start raining down some punches and knees while Scott was on his hands and knees. Once again Matt let Scott get back to his feet.

The first round continued with Scott every now and then attempting a kick or a punch but for the most part Matt was able to shake them off while delivering his own punches here and there. Again Scott went to his knees and attempted to grab one of Matt’s legs but he easily stepped out of it. Matt began to get tired and Scott was able to start fighting back a bit more where a few times the 2 fighters were slugging it out. Scott got Matt up against the cage but wasn’t able to do much of anything. The round ended with both men exchanging punches but obviously being gassed.

Round two started with Matt delivering a few jabs before Scott landed a few punches of his own. It was obvious both men were tired as most of their punches didn’t seem to have much behind them, both kept dropping their hands and no one was being aggressive. Scott was finally able to push Matt against the cage and get a takedown. Scott was able to deliver a bit of ground and pound but Matt continued to deliver small shots. Neither fighter was doing much beyond light shots here and there. Eventually the ref stood them back up. Back on their feet Matt was able to continue delivering small shots even though they weren’t doing much damage, they were scoring points with the judges. Once in a while Scott would throw a wild punch. The match ended with Matt throwing most of the remaining punches and Scott throwing one here and there.

The end result was yet another win for Team Rashad. Now even more pressure is on Marcus to not only win his fight for himself but to hopefully save a little bit of Team Rampage’s rep. This could be the first season that the second round is nothing but fighters from one team.
