Just 20 minutes from Charlotte’s Center City, visitors can experience whitewater rafting, kayaking, cannoning, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, running trails, and thrilling ziplines, all at the US National Whitewater Center. Primarily designed as a training facility for aspiring US Olympic athletes, visitors of all skill levels can find days of outdoor fun here. (Activity fees vary so check the web site for details.)

All those activities require a lot of energy so when you need to refuel for your next adventure visit the River’s Edge Bar and Grill. This indoor restaurant and bar, overlooking the competition channel, offers a wide selection of healthy, contemporary, American cuisine serving many locally grown options. In need of some high energy snacks, fast? Then stop by the centers Grab and Go for a quick bite.
