One topic. Five minutes. A deck of 20slides on 15 second auto-advance.
Ignite is one of the most exciting community events Boulder has and it’s on again Thursday July 2.

With our savvy tech community, Ignite is a great opportunity to highlight issues, raise awareness, or simply make a splash. Whether your topic is serious or lighthearted, organizer Andrew Hyde says, “This time around we’d like to have Sparks (presentations) that teach something and have social value.”

This event has grown from venues that held 150 to 400 people, to an exciting new venue for its fifth time. The Boulder Theatre holds twice as many people as the last Ignite! This will double the atmosphere, energy and excitement. Additionally, popular local bands The Autumn Film and Fellow Citizens will play following the presentations. And as a bonus, one lucky person will also win Adobe Creative Suite 4!

Seven presenters will be crowd-sourced, so it’s definitely time to think about presenting if you haven’t already listed your topic. Don't let inexperience put you off - great presentations have been accomplished by people who are not used to public speaking. This is not a business opportunity, nor a business environment. No pitching of your product or website is allowed. If you’ve flirted with the idea of presenting in the past, or even if this is your first time, have a browse through Ignite videos that are online. Because Ignite is international, you can locate presentations from places all around the world and pick up some tips. San Francisco, Sydney, and even past presentations from Boulder itself will give you a good idea of what works – and what might not.

The Ignite volunteer crew (which includes some previous presenters) and organizer Andrew Hyde will be helping Ignite Boulder 5 presenters who need advice or practice before the event, to overcome the nerves and get timings down. It should be something you really enjoy doing, and some preparation will really pay off!
