It was a big day in New York yesterday for the World Champion New York Yankees. It started with a ticker-tape parade in the late morning for all the players and for some it ended at Madison Square Garden at night.
The AP reports that seven of the World Series winners continued their day of celebrating Friday by coming onto the floor after the first quarter of the Knicks’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With Yankees fan LeBron James standing and clapping from the sideline, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, Joba Chamberlain and Freddy Guzman received a standing ovation while Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” blared over the arena’s speakers.
Former Yankee great Bernie Williams was also part of the special event. He played the national anthem on his guitar before the game.
