New college dorm to be named after Frank Sinatra! After a campus-wide poll, Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey said they will name a newly built dorm after Frank Sinatra, a report in the Montclairion said.
The crooner came out on top with 506 votes, followed by Walt Whitman with 125 votes and Albert Einstein with 119 votes, according to the report. The dorm will contain six floors and 303 beds in an apartment style suite, the report said.
The University also honors a 50 plus years Montclair area resident, New York Yankees Hall of Famer Lawrence "Yogi" Berra. The Berra baseball museum is located on the Montclair campus. Bruce Willis attended the school as a theatre major.
The town of Montclair is just a few miles west of Manhattan on the First Mountain. It was/is the home of Buzz Aldrin, Olympia Dukakas, Robert Trent Jones, Senators Bill Bradley and Frank Lautenberg. Plus, a number of singers and musicians from the opera and concert world and professional athletes. The town is a popular movie location spot due to its closeness to NYC and the large range of outstanding homes.
One of its least know celebrities is Herman Hupfeld. Herman who? Hupfeld is just the composer of one of the most famous songs in motion picture history...As Time Goes By!
