At around 4:30 pm today, just like any other day, I decided to activate 3G on my Iphone as I realized that I still had enough battery to make it through the day, the phone switched to 3G from Edge but showed no bars, no calls could be placed nor received and obviously, no data.
I quickly called AT&T to make sure it was not an Iphone problem (I wanted to save me another trip to the Apple store). AT&T verified that there is a problem in the Miami area, and advised to take the Sim Card out and place it back in a couple of hours, that was 2 hours ago.
By now there are several reports of AT&T's 3G outage, not limited to South Florida, but actually for the entire State of Florida. The outage has not been officially publicized and it so far appears to only affect specifically data phones like the Iphone & Blackberry. So much for HSPA coming to Miami, and their $ 17 billion network improvement, hope at least they get that right.
WSVN reports that this problem could take hours to resolve. The only solution at this time: Switch your phones to Edge if it did not do it automatically already. If you need a quick guide you can click here for the Iphone.
P.S.: Are you experiencing the 3G outage in any other device, or at all? Let us know
