Your telework agreement is a legal document that sets forth the responsibilities of both you as a telecommuter and your employer.  This agreement, as with any legal and binding contract, should be carefully examined by you before you sign it.

Like any good agreement or contract, the telework agreement is beneficial for both parties.  It should explain specific actions for both you and your employer.

The first paragraph or two is usually the actual agreement.  A statement or two explaining that you are voluntarily entering into the action and that the employer may terminate agreement at any time, at their discretion.  When the agreement begins and how long it shall remain in effect.

Then there will probably be the termination agreement.  This states what action you or the employer must take to terminate the agreement and the conditions of the terms should either of you decide to terminate the agreement.

Next there will be the paragraphs clearly stating job responsibilities, salary and benefits; including any changes that teleworking incurs or not.

A few statements will outline work schedule, vacation and overtime status.

There may  be an understanding outlined about the supplies or equipment the employer will provide for you to successfully telecommute.  Also, the care, rules and upkeep for equipment the employer provides.  It may include rules for reimbursement, should you have to provide costs of equipment or supplies to perform your job.  This will usually include rules about your designated work area where you will conduct company business and the conditions under which employer may visit work area.

You will have a few paragraphs explaining liability and worker's compensation.  This will detail any actions that result should you or another person be injured in connection with your off-site services.

The next statements usually concern Income tax and other tax implications from maintaining a home-office.

Many companies will have variances on standard agreements that include specifics for job duties or training sessions.

Remember that a telework agreement should protect you and your rights, just as it should the employer.

There are a lot of sites on the internet with sample telework agreement forms.  Just type in the search engine, sample telework  agreement to find them.  A great site with a sample form as well as lots of advice for the person trying to successfully work from home is:  undress4success.com
