Officer Matt Farwell is being commended for saving the life of a Wellesley resident.

According to the Wellesley Police, Officer Farwell, with less than one year on the job, used an automatic external defribillator "AED" to restart a victim's heart.

This week Chief Cunningham and Deputy Chief Brooks honored Farwell for his actions. In a published letter, Chief Cunningham wrote:

"With less than a year as a member of the Wellesley Police Department, you have already saved a life. You are hereby commended. Congratulations."

According to the Wellesley Police Department website, on October 7 Farwell rolled-over the unresponsive victim  when responding to a call. He determined the 61-year-old man was not breathing and had no pulse. He initiated CPR and the AED until he was transported.

According to the Wellesley Police, Officers receive training in AED's both in the police academy, and annually from the department.
