You're sitting at home, sulking, wishing you had a darkroom... But it's a beautiful day and the sun is shining.
Take advantage of every cool front Houston gets, banishing the mosquitos for just a short while, allowing you to get creative in your very own backyard. All you need is some sun-sensitive paper (such as Sunprint Kit or NaturePrint Paper), a few flat objects lying around the house or garden and of course don't forget that creative imagination!
1. Gather.
Look for fun flat objects you wish to print, like dried flowers, weeds or leaves, black and white negatives, cutouts...
2. Prepare.
Take a piece of your sun-sensitive paper and place it on a flat surface. Place your object of choice on top of the paper (blue side up).
3. Expose.
Expose directly to sunlight for about five minutes. The blue color will fade in areas exposed to sunlight.
4. Develop.
After removing the objects, soak your paper in water in away from the sun. Areas touched by the sun will be blue.
5. Dry.
Let your print dry overnight away from sunlight. Frame it and ta-da!
